OSCAL, focused on decentralized technologies

OSCAL (Open Source Conference Albania) is the international tech conference in Albania organized by Open Labs Hackerspace, the open source and free software community in Albania. The conference promotes software freedom, open source software, free culture and open knowledge, global movements which originally started more than 30 years ago.

The third edition of the the annual OSCAL conference will take place once again in Tirana on 14 & 15th of May and will gather more than 400 free libre open source technology enthusiasts, developers, students, academics, governmental agencies and people who share the idea that software should be free and open for the local community and governments to develop and customize to its needs; that knowledge is a communal property and free and open to everyone.

The slogan of this edition is “Empowering the Commons”, as in the empowering of public sources accessible by everyone. With influential speakers from Albania, Kosovo, Italy, Germany, Austria and other countries, the presence at OSCAL will be highly diversified, turning OSCAL into a flagship regional conference about everything open source.

OSCAL follows a multi-track (main & side track workshops) and two-day conference model while offering advantageous booth possibilities for students, companies, communities and various free and open source projects. The conference starts at 9.00AM on Saturday, 9.30AM on Sunday and ends at 6.30PM for both days (14th & 15th May) with the Metropolitan University of Tirana (UMT) as the venue.
